This Privacy Policy describes how personal information is handled when you use Wild Yeti, the website at https://wildyeti.it/, and the rights you have under the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and Italian data protection law. It also explains how the Alpine Track watch app for Garmin handles data; see Alpine Track (Garmin watch app) below.
Wild Yeti is a personal website published from Italy. It is not a business, it has no VAT number, and it does not sell products, run advertising, or send marketing messages.

Collecting and Using Your Personal Information
Personal Data
The Website has no accounts and no registration. You do not need to give Us Personal Data to read the pages. If you use the contact form, We ask for:
- your name
- your email address
- your message
Usage Data
Usage Data is collected automatically when you open a page.
It may include your IP address, browser type and version, the pages you visit, and the date and time of the visit. The same kind of data may be logged if you open the Website from a phone or a tablet. We do not collect a unique device identifier for advertising or analytics.
From the request We also read an approximate country. We use it only to show the rest of the Website in Italian or English. That choice is not stored on your Device.
Tracking Technologies and Cookies
We do not set cookies, and We do not use web beacons, analytics, or advertising tags. A cookie consent banner is not shown because there are no non-essential cookies to accept. Your browser still sends the ordinary technical data needed to load a page. You can control cookies in your browser settings, but refusing them should not block this Website.
Use of Your Personal Data
We use Personal Data only for these purposes:
To provide and protect the Website. Server logs are used to deliver pages and to detect abuse. The legal basis is Our legitimate interest in running a working and secure site (GDPR Article 6(1)(f)), together with the technical need to answer the request you make when you open a page.
To reply to you. Name, email, and message from the contact form are used to read your request and answer it. The legal basis is the step you ask Us to take by sending the message (GDPR Article 6(1)(b)).
We do not use Personal Data for newsletters, special offers, profiling, or sale. We do not manage user accounts, purchases, or public comment areas, and We do not share data with affiliates.
We share Personal Data only in these cases:
- With Service Providers who host the Website or deliver a contact message to Us, and only for that purpose.
- If the law requires it, including a valid request from a court, the police, or another public authority.
- To protect the Website and its visitors, where that is necessary to investigate abuse or to establish or defend a legal claim.
If the Website were ever transferred to someone else, the logs and messages needed to run it could pass with it. We would update this page before that happened.
Retention of Your Personal Data
We keep Personal Data only for as long as the purpose requires. Where We can, We delete it sooner.
- Contact messages: for as long as needed to reply and to handle a follow-up, and in any case no longer than 12 months after the last message, unless a legal obligation or a legal claim requires a longer period.
- Server logs: for the period set by Vercel, then deleted or anonymised under the host's rules. We do not run a separate analytics archive.
Copies can remain in the host's backups until those backups are rotated. They are not used for any other purpose. You can ask how long We will keep your data through the contact form.
Transfer of Your Personal Data
The Website is published from Italy. Vercel may process logs on servers outside the European Economic Area, where data protection rules can differ. Where that happens, the transfer relies on the safeguards the host applies to its customers, such as standard contractual clauses. FormSubmit, which forwards contact messages, may also process that message outside the European Economic Area in order to deliver it to Us.
Delete Your Personal Data
You can ask Us to delete Personal Data We hold about you. There is no account to edit: use the contact form. We may keep a limited record where the law requires it, or where We need it to establish, exercise, or defend a legal claim.
Your rights in Italy and the EU
Under the GDPR you can ask Us to:
- give you access to your Personal Data
- correct it
- delete it
- restrict how it is used
- receive a copy of the data you provided, where that right applies
- object to processing based on legitimate interest
You can also lodge a complaint with the Italian supervisory authority, the Garante per la protezione dei dati personali (garanteprivacy.it).
Security of Your Personal Data
The security of your Personal Data matters to Us. No method of transmission over the Internet, or of electronic storage, is completely secure. We use reasonable measures to protect it, and We cannot promise absolute security.
Alpine Track (Garmin watch app)
Alpine Track is a free Garmin Connect IQ watch app published by Wild Yeti. This section covers the app itself. The rest of this page covers the website. The app does not use the website, and the website does not receive anything from the app.
Data the app reads on your watch
To show live mountaineering data and to record an activity, the app reads, on the watch only:
- GPS position, heading, and GPS altitude
- barometric altitude and air pressure
- heart rate and, if your watch has the sensor, blood oxygen (SpO2)
- recent elevation and SpO2 history already stored on the watch (for the 24 hour high and the last SpO2 reading)
- your watch settings for units (metric or statute) and the local time
What is stored and where
- The FIT activity file. If you save an activity, the app writes a standard Garmin FIT file on the watch, with the track, time, altitude, distance, heart rate, and three custom fields (elevation gain, maximum altitude, time above 2500 m). If you discard the activity, no file is kept. If the app is closed while recording, the activity is saved. After that the file belongs to Garmin: when you sync the watch, Garmin Connect handles it under Garmin's own privacy policy.
- A last-session summary.Duration, elevation gain and loss, and distance of your last outing are kept in the app's storage on the watch so the start screen can show them. It is replaced by the next outing and is deleted when you uninstall the app.
- One setting. The field you choose to show on the first live page is stored as a Connect IQ app setting, through Garmin Connect or the Connect IQ app.
What We do not collect
Wild Yeti does not run a server for the app. The app does not ask for network access, has no accounts, and does not include analytics, advertising, or tracking. We do not receive your position, track, heart rate, SpO2, or FIT files, and We cannot see or delete them. Because We hold no personal data from the app, there is nothing to export or correct on Our side. To remove your data, delete the activity in Garmin Connect and on the watch, or uninstall the app.
Permissions the app asks for
- Positioning: location for the track, altitude fallback, sunrise and sunset, and the FIT recording.
- Sensor and Sensor History: barometer, heart rate, SpO2, and the last 24 hours of elevation.
- Fit and Fit Contributor: write the activity file and its custom fields.
Support link
The app's store page and documentation link to a voluntary support page on Buy Me a Coffee. The app has no paid features and sends no data to it. If you follow that link, the Buy Me a Coffee privacy policy applies. Questions about the app: use the contact form.
Children's Privacy
The Website is not directed at children, and We do not knowingly collect Personal Data from anyone under 14. That is the age set by Italian law before a person can consent on their own to an information society service.
If you are a parent or guardian and you believe a child has sent Us Personal Data, please contact Us. If We learn that We have collected Personal Data from anyone under 14, We will delete it.
Links to Other Websites
The Website may link to apps or other sites that We do not operate. If you follow a third-party link, that site's own privacy policy applies. We have no control over, and accept no responsibility for, the content or practices of those sites.
Changes to this Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The new text will be posted on this page, and the "Last updated" date will change. We do not keep a mailing list, so We will not email you about a change. Please review this page occasionally. Changes apply from the moment they are posted.
